Galaxy S4 sales overtook iPhone in August 2013. Nokia still popular in emerging markets.

Global research company Counterpoint has just released the top 10 smartphone sales figures for August 2013. Samsung Galaxy S4 international gets the top spot, while iPhone 5 follows close behind.

In fact, Galaxy S4 sales is lower than what Samsung expected. The sales figures dropped bellow 5 million for August. In June, S4 reached a peak of 7 million units being sold but sales declined after that. Samsung was quick to launch other products to offset the declining S4 sales.

iPhone 5 16GB and 32GB came in 2nd and 3rd respectively, still showing extremely strong signs of consumer interest in Apple products. With 3 phones in the top 10 list, Nokia is still indeed relevant for manufacturing products for the market. In fact, the ranking showed Nokia's dominance in entry level smartphones.
