Google's smartwatch to be launched together with Android 4.4

Recently, Android Police website co-founder Artem Russakovskii said that Google will be holding a conference this month to launch new products. In the conference, they will also launch something known as the "Gem" smartwatch. Gem is an internal codename for Google. The final product may have a different name.

Artem did not elaborate on what he found out on the configuration and appearance of the smartwatch from Google. Given that consumers are always looking forward to revolutionary products that change the way they live everyday, wearable technology have been in the trend these days. Google's move into the market should be able to attract many to try out their product.

Currently, other than Google, Apple is also said to be developing smart watches. However, Samsung is the first to launch their Galaxy Gear smart watch. Judging from market reactions on the Galaxy Gear, consumers are still expecting a lot more for a smartwatch.

Additionally, Motorola is also said to be developing their xWatch smartwatch. Considering that Motorola is now a subsidiary of Google, Google may have already included the xWatch project into their own product.

From the current news, Google is likely to officially release the Gem smartwatches with the next generation Android 4.4 KitKat OS in the coming days. Moreover, Nexus 5 and Nexus 10 will also be launched then.
