LTA to roll out Free Wi-Fi on North East Line train stations starting next year

Sources have claimed that LTA is working to roll out free public Wi-Fi services  to train and interchange stations starting next year. SBS owned North East (Purple) Line train stations will be the first to adopt and be equipped with the service. LTA stated that the free Wi-Fi service will start its trial from mid 2014 and should be rolled out to other train stations in the near future.

LTA aims to target the working class Singaporeans with highly accessible internet access at train stations as mobile data coverage could be poorer underground. After rolling out the service, Singapore will be even more connected than ever. With access to internet, LTA also hopes to send out information and public transport service updates more efficiently to commuters.

LTA recommends commuters to download and make use of the MyTransport SG applications to plan their journeys more effectively.
