Fusionopolis Two - The Future begins Here

Fusionopolis Two, the R&D hub which adds on the the existing Fusionopolis, is officially opened by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong himself today.

Fusionopolis Two will house A*STAR's science and engineering institutes: the Data Storage Institute (DSI), Institute of Microelectronics (IME), Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE), and the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech).

Currently, Fusionopolis One is already home to the Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R) and the Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC). The strategic plan to bring these A*STAR research institutes closer will bring together more application research capabilities spanning through different scientific areas. These includes data analytics, computational sciences and many more.

A*STAR also showcased their latest innovation and technology at the opening ceremony today. They unveiled their first Autonomous Vehicle(AV) available in Singapore that is currently in Trial Phase. The AV will run through different trials in stages, starting from Fusionopolis to Mediapolis. The AV is slated to complete the entire planned trial route by the end of this year. The trial is on-going and will be running around one-north area at an average of eight hours a day. More frequent trials will be conducted from 9.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday.

The launch of Fusionopolis Two strengthens the status of one-north as Singapore's knowledge hub. With dynamic growth clusters at Fusionopolis, Biopolis and Mediapolis, combined with a blend of residential, lifestyle and educational space, one-north has just become one of the most vibrant area in Singapore.
