WHAT DOES THE COLOUR OF YOUR FITNESS KIT SAY ABOUT YOU?
Colour preference and personality types are linked according to research identified by TomTom
TomTom’s latest range of coloured straps for the Spark GPS Watch is now available in Singapore and to support this release, the company has identified how colours can explain the type of fitness fan you are.
Research2 found by TomTom shows that not only does the colour and fit of fitness clothing influence psychological functioning, but also that we all relate to colours on an emotional level3.
British anthropologist Dr. Russell Hills’ study ‘Seeing Red, Putting Sportswear into Context’ 4 found that athletes in boxing, tae kwon do, and wrestling won more often when wearing red outfits than when wearing blue.
To help identify what your choice of kit colour says about your fitness personality, TomTom has created a colour chart profiling the latest colours available for their music product, the TomTom Spark:
APPLICATION IN SPORT
Pick Red to get ahead. Those fitness fans who are naturally inclined towards the colour red are likely to have an extraverted and aggressive streak and will stop at nothing to get ahead in that 10k race.
Blues are the thinkers of the group. Fitness fans that pick blue will be keen on a precise training schedule. Keen to work on specific distances, hill training and intervals, fans of blue can be found spending as much time planning their fitness regimes as hitting the tarmac or the gym
Fitness fans that wear yellow are the chatterboxes of the sports world, gathering friends together to take part in fun runs and challenges. They’ll also be the ones that want to chat whilst you exercise together and tell you all the latest news in their life.
Want a fitness buddy or training friend? Pick a partner who’s fond of green and they will give you the support you need to stick to your training schedule.
Those in orange are always on the go. They’re fitness fans who follow their gut reaction and just go for it with great physical confidence.
Always in control, fitness fans in grey stick to the plan. A focused and targeted approach means they are always regimented when it comes to their exercise regime.
Soothing and pure, fitness fans who choose white are guaranteed to keep their cool during training. The simplicity of white ensures that those who wear this colour have clear minds and are able to share this aura with fellow fitness fans on their radar.
