Singapore 3rd February, 2017 – ASUS announces the ROG XG Station 2. ROG XG Station 2 is an external graphics-card dock that turns a laptop into VR-gaming powerhouse. A 680W power supply is designed inside and supports the latest NVIDIA GeForce GTX and AMD Radeon™ graphics cards. ROG XG Station 2 is equipped with Thunderbolt™ 3 and an exclusive proprietary connector that improves performance up to a further 15%. It’s easy to connect and can be unplugged without restarting the laptop — and includes four USB 3.0 ports and a gigabit LAN socket for extended connectivity and convenience.

The original XG Station
In 2007, ASUS introduced the world’s first external graphics solution that allows laptops to achieve cutting-edge gaming performance by tapping into potent desktop graphics. The original XG station even came with an OSD (on-screen-display) and allowed you to adjust the GPU clock, fan speed and volume. Back then, adding a desktop NVIDIA 8600GT to your laptop was highly sought-after.

Performance and Connectivity
Continuing this trend of innovation, the all-new ROG XG-station 2 is a plug-and-play external graphics card dock that turns a Thunderbolt™ 3-enabled notebook or 2-in-1 PC into a VR-ready gaming powerhouse. XG Station 2 utilises the speed of Thunderbolt 3 (up to 40Gbps) which allows eight times the data transfer rate of USB 3.0 (5Gbps) and four times the video bandwidth of HDMI 1.4. ROG has also made it possible to connect and disconnect the XG station 2 without restarting the machine.
The XG station can also serve as a docking station allowing you use a single Thunderbolt 3 cable to charge your laptop, connect to your peripherals, external storage, VR headset and internet connection simultaneously. There are four USB 3.0 ports, a Gigabit Ethernet port and a dedicated USB Type-B port at the back of the XG station 2 to push the USB performance even further.

Power – Future Ready
XG Station 2 is designed to not only supply 500W of power to the graphics card, it provides up to 100W to charge your compatible laptop and other USB-connected devices via a single Thunderbolt 3 cable. The internal power has an 80 Plus Gold certification, and is up to 90 percent energy efficient, reducing electricity use and operating costs.
Easily upgrade to the best gaming performance with current and upcoming NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 9/10 series and AMD Radeon™ R9/RX series graphics card. For future cards, XG Station 2 can accommodate full-length graphics cards up to 2.5 slots wide, letting you choose from a broad range of options to suit your needs.

ASUS Aura Sync
The centerpiece of the XG Station 2 is a ROG-themed plasma tube. Its ROG-inspired glow crackles with electricity, giving you a sense of power and futuristic tech within. The window on the side reveals the graphics card and all the additional lights surrounding it, through software you can synchronise the RGB lighting effects the way you like it.
