Siemens enhances relationship with user community in Singapore through SPACe

·         First SPACe in Singapore, covering technology topics, case studies and presentations by user speakers and technical experts from various process industries
·         Official launch of SIMATIC PCS 7 Version 9.0 in Singapore, with enhanced functionalities to enable local manufacturers to respond more quickly and flexibly to changes in market requirements

Siemens, a global technology powerhouse in the areas of electrification, automation and digitalization, hosted the first ever Siemens Process Automation Conference & Exhibition (SPACe) in Singapore last month, with attendance of over 120 participants comprising users, partners and Siemens experts.

SPACe is an enriching platform that engages attendees from different parts of the world to discuss emerging trends and challenges within the industry sector. The event is held once every two years, and includes presentation and technology sessions, microfairs and exhibitions, as well as industry workshops and networking sessions. It provides existing and potential users the opportunity to connect with industry peers, gain insights from experts, and have a first-hand access to the latest Siemens’ technologies.

This year, SPACe is covering more markets in the Southeast Asia region, extending across five countries over a period of three months. With the theme “Driving the Digital Enterprise in Process Industries of Southeast Asia”, Siemens aims to focus on customising solutions for individual markets and sectors, from process and discrete to motion control and drives.

At the event, some of the topics discussed include “Driving the Digital Enterprise in Process Industries in Southeast Asia“, “Importance of Achieving Digital Transformation in the Process Industries”, “PAT and SIPAT in Process R&D” as well as “Discover the Potential of Integrating Engineering to Integrated Operations”, presented by experts from Siemens, partner ARC Advisory Group and A*STAR.

Adnan Bin Abdul Rahman, General Manager of Automation and Engineering, Vertical Sub Segment, Siemens Pte Ltd said, “SPACe was established with the goal of building a community of users to share knowledge and expertise in the process automation industry. Now in its eighth installment, we are bringing the event to more countries this year so as to be closer to our user community and at the same time cater to the individual markets’ needs.”

There will also be a user advisory board formed locally, to increase engagement and enhance the relationship among members in the industry.

In line with the theme of the exhibition, Siemens also launched Version 9.0 of its SIMATIC PCS 7 Process Control System at SPACe in Singapore. PCS 7 allows manufacturers to respond quickly to changes in market requirements and ensures the continuous operation of systems. Version 9.0 supports the world leading Industrial Ethernet standard Profinet with two new distributed I/O lines for greater digitalization right down to the field level, as well as extensive new software functionality. Plant operators also benefit from greater flexibility, convenience, future-proofing and wide-ranging compatibility with legacy installations. With this new version, Siemens is opening up scope for new perspectives to plant operators in the process industries and creating an additional building block en route for the Digital Enterprise.

SPACe Innovation Tour 2017 kicked off in Vietnam in June, followed by Singapore, Philippines and Thailand last month, and will visit Malaysia this week.
