AMD Threadripper gets NVMe RAID

Many were disappointed when they realized that the AMD Ryzen Threadripper did not support NVMe SSD RAID features when it first came out. After listening to feedback, AMD has decided to further improve on the X399 platform and have just announced NVMe SSD RAID capabilities for it!

Who needs outrageous VROC keys? Threadripper users have their NVMe SSD devices directly connected to the CPU and have accelerated RAID performance on the CPU!

Testing conducted by AMD performance labs as of 9/18/2017. Test configuration: AMD Ryzen™ Threadripper™ 1950X, 4x8GB DDR4-3200 (16-16-16-36), ASUS ROG Zenith Extreme X399, 1-6x Samsung 960 Pro NVMe SSD (512GB ea.), default BIOS settings, Windows® 10 x64 RS2, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (driver 385.41), RAID Writeback Cache ENABLED, RAID Read Cache DISABLED, Write Cache Buffer Flush DISABLED.
The beta release of the support of bootable NVMe RAID is now available via the latest AMD RAIDXpert2 package. The BIOS for the AMD X299 based motherboard has to be updated as well.
