500,000 Google Reader users joins Feedly after Reader's termination announcement

After announcements that Google Reader will be going down on 1st July, users have been protesting on the move. At the same time, they have been trying to salvage their feed subscriptions by finding alternative products. It is a good new and opportunity for competing products.



Feedly has just announced that they have about 500,000 Google Reader users has registered its RSS service since Google's announcement on Wednesday. Feedly said that they are increasing new servers to adapt to the influx of users and content requirements load as traffic increases tenfold. Additionally, the company is also said to focus on ensuring a smooth service operation and addition of new features in response from recommendations from new users in the coming month.

Feedly also promised to clone Google reader's API to allow a smoother transition from Google Reader or any other RSS application to Feedly.  RSS App Press and Reeder are also developing new solutions to this.
