The
RT-AC66U goes even further than the successful high speed RT-N66U dual-band
router. Working in both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, it is one of the world’s first
dual-band wireless routers to support the advanced 802.11ac wireless protocol,
enabling 5GHz operation at up to 1.3Gbps. These new capabilities are made
possible by the inclusion of Broadcom’s powerful 5G WiFi chips.
Extensive feature list enhances networking experiences
The RT-AC66U
maintains the tradition of networking excellence established by previous ASUS
high speed routers. It allows for easy and fast setup in just three steps with
the ASUSWRT dashboard, and upholds strict QoS standards for the most reliable
networking and download multitasking available. With QoS, the RT-AC66U has
better bandwidth optimization, and offers Download Master capabilities, which
mean fast background downloading even post-shutdown. Up to eight SSIDs are
supported, so users can easily setup distinct networks with different access
privileges and levels of security without having to compromise passwords.
USB-AC53 802.11ac Adapters
The ASUS PCE-AC66 offers the world’s first PCI
Express-based 802.11ac adapter, which expands wireless range by as much as
150%. It launches alongside the stylish ASUS USB-AC53 adapter, with the devices
offering next generation Wi-Fi at up to 1.3Gbps. They work in dual-band
2.4GHz/5GHz, making them ideal for high-demand online applications. ASUS
bundles reception and convenience-optimizing accessories with both products.

Twin
antennas and selectable 2.4GHz/5GHz bands join the elegant Black Diamond design
seen previously on other high-end networking products from ASUS. The USB-AC53
sustains up to 867Mbps on the 5GHz frequency and 300Mbps via 2.4GHz. It ships
bundled with a cradle for vertical and horizontal placement, a USB extension
cable to help with best-reception location finding, and an attachment clip so
it can hook to notebooks.

With the greatly
improved performance of 802.11ac, customers can enjoy much smoother online
experiences in even the most demanding tasks, such as multiplayer gaming and HD
content streaming in 1080p and higher. As online distribution becomes the norm,
the time required to download content such as games, which now reach 15GB-20GB
in file size and are expected to grow to 50GB in the near future, can be
measured in minutes whereas in the past a similar task would have taken days.
Likewise, only wired connections were capable of such speeds until recently,
but with 802.11ac and powerful hardware on ASUS products, wireless networks
