Windows 8 Application Development with HTML5 2013

27th May 2013 - After a successful HTML5 Windows 8 development workshop for 2012, Ngee Ann Computer and Ngee Ann Polytechnic Microsoft Student Partners have teamed up to come up with another flagship development workshop event for the Ngee Ann Polytechnic student population.

From the ground up : Windows 8 Application Development with HTML5 2013 is targeted to the student population in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. No prior programming experience is required to join the workshop. We will be starting everything from the ground up.
 
 
 
 

Hands on Experience

 
 
The workshop will start with basic HTML tutorial and practical, giving attendees hands on experience by trying out various basic HTML controls and controls specific to Windows 8. After mastering HTML syntax and controls, we will move onto CSS and teach attendees on how to create beautiful and highly customized HTML5 documents and controls. Lastly, to make things interactive on a HTML site/HTML5 Application and leverage on the latest Web 2.0 tools, we will teach JavaScript, a web based scripting language. 

Port your newly acquired Skills 

HTML5 Technology works across platforms. After the workshop, you will be able to create HTML5 applications not only for Windows 8, but also Android/iOS/WindowsPhone/BlackBerry. We will provide you with the resources to learn how to create apps on all these platforms. HTML5 is the way to go to kickstart your app development journey. 
 

Come out with your own Application 

At the end of the workshop, every participant will have the opportunity to team up and come out with a Windows 8 Application. Our trainers and helpers will be around to help your with application development. Everyone will walk home with their own application.

Join Competitions - Splash Awards 2013

Sign up for Splash Awards 2013 and make use of the workshop to create an application for the competition. Closing date for registration of the competition is 15th June 2013. Registration is already open.
 
 
 
Requirements :
  • All entries must utilise government data found on data.gov.sg
  • Entries will be based on one of the following topics in relation to the use of government data:

    • - Education and awareness- Empowerment through content
    - Lifestyle and health
    - Mobility matters
    - Trends and insights
    • There will be no restrictions on which platform or device the application is developed on or developed for
    • The submitted entry must be unique and not a direct derivative of any current application

    Take note that this is a 3 day workshop and that it is highly recommended to join the workshop from the first day. There will be no stay over this time. Of course, CCA Points will be awarded for attendees.
