Android Authority has reported that many vendors are already adopting a new 1920 x 1080 FullHD resolution for the high end smartphones. Apparently, LCD display panel manufacturers are still moving forward and pushing the limits. According to sources, South Korea and Japan based manufacturers are developing a new six inch WQXGA (2560 x 1600) resolution phone LCD display panel.

To attain higher screen resolution, display manufacturers need to use low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) technology. While LG Display already using their AH-IPS technology to produce displays of over 500ppi, Sharp and Japan Display are already starting to try out the mass production of a 6 inch 2560 x 1600 resolution display.

6-inch 2560 x 1600 resolution display is not just a gimmick. Earlier reports stated that in normal distance, the human eye almost cannot perceive the difference between a 1080p and 720p display. However, the latest survey shows that smartphone users who are 30 years of age and younger are able to fully differentiate between a 400ppi and a 500ppi display.
