ASUS Announces Next Generation Intel-Based Android Tablets

Weighing
at just 299g, the 8-inch ASUS MeMO Pad 8
(ME581CL) is the world’s lightest 8-inch tablet with Long-Term Evolution (LTE).
It features the next generation 64-bit Intel® Atom™ Z3560 1.8GHz
quad-core processor, and ultra-fast connectivity with 802.11ac Wi-Fi and wireless
Near-Field Communications (NFC).
The ASUS Fonepad 8 (FE380CG) delivers powerful
mobility with the next generation 64-bit Intel® Atom™
Z3530 1.3GHz quad-core processor and 3G phone functions. With its narrow bezel
measuring just 5.06mm and a 72.2% screen-to-body ratio, the 8-inch ASUS Fonepad 8 also has the largest viewing
area for any 8-inch phablet in the market.
Both
Android tablets feature the all-new ASUS ZenUI interface. It features more than
200 software tweaks over previous ASUS interfaces and sports a new visual
design with modern ‘flat’ icons, customisable vivid colour themes that match
the tablets’ colour, as well as a cleaner layout that clearly presents all
necessary information at one glance.
ASUS MeMO Pad 8 ME581CL – The Ultra Slim
and Light 8-inch Full HD LTE Tablet
Featuring the new 64-bit Intel®
Atom™ Z3560 quad-core processor, the latest 8-inch Android tablet
provides users with extreme performance and ultra-fast connectivity. Designed
to be lightweight, the MeMO Pad 8
comes with an ultra-thin design that measures at 7.45mm at its thinnest edge
and weighs at just 299g making it incredibly portable and easily with one hand.
The MeMO
Pad 8 has a premium multi-layer coating which employs Non-Conductive Vacuum
Metallisation (NCVM) technology. The 8-inch tablet comes with a full HD
resolution of 1,920 x 1,200. In addition, it also features IPS display, thus
allowing highly detailed, crystal-clear images with 170-degree wide viewing
angles in both indoor and outdoor conditions. Furthermore, the use of Corning®
Gorilla® Glass 3 provides the toughness and durability of the tablet
to withstand bumps and knocks. Its 283ppi display resolution ensures HD videos
and photos look crisp and vivid, while text looks sharp and artefact-free.
Users may also use the built-in ASUS Splendid utility to tweak the display
colours to their preference.
With 802.11ac Wi-Fi, LTE and NFC
capabilities, the MeMO Pad 8 is an
ideal portable wireless entertainment hub. It can also support Miracast, thus
allowing users to stream multimedia content to compatible external displays, as
well as CSR’s aptX® audio coding for wireless CD-quality audio
streaming to optional Bluetooth headsets.
The MeMO Pad 8 will be available at all
ASUS brand stores and authorised stores from 10 October onwards. It will be
retailing at S$499, and will be available in pearl white, powder pink and
metallic blue colours.
ASUS Fonepad 8 (FE380CG)
Featuring
the next gen 64-bit Intel® Atom™ Intel quad-core
processor, the ASUS Fonepad 8
(FE380CG) combines powerful performance with energy efficiency, giving this
latest 8-inch Android tablet a smooth performance and incredible 12 hours of battery
life.
The Fonepad 8 has the largest viewing area
of any 8-inch phablet in the market, as it features a 72.2% screen-to-body
ratio for a larger display area. In addition, it also possesses a narrow bezel designed
for one-handed use. Despite its larger display, it has almost the same width as
the previous generation 7-inch Fonepad.
With dual
SIM function, the Fonepad 8 ensures
that users remain connected at all times anywhere for seamless web browsing.
Furthermore, with full 3G telephony support, the Fonepad 8 is ideal for voice calls, using the built-in noise
cancelling digital microphone or an optional Bluetooth headset.
Equipped
with an HD 1,280 x 800 IPS display, the Fonepad
8 also comes with a rear-facing 5MP camera that is capable of taking 1080p
and 720p video recording of up to 30 frames per second (fps). The front facing
2MP camera allows video chats and VGA video recording at 30 fps. Both cameras
feature f/2.8 aperture lenses.
Available
in four colours – black, white, gold and red - the Fonepad 8 will be retailing at S$299 from 10 October onwards at all
ASUS brand stores and authorised retailers*.

available first on 10 October. All other colours will be available by end
