Super Evil Megacorp Partners with SCOGA Esports Academy
to Develop Leadership Courses
The World’s Top Mobile Esport Vainglory to Assist in School Leadership Training
Singapore, 28 November 2017 – Super Evil Megacorp, the developers of the world’s leading mobile esport Vainglory, has announced a partnership with Singapore Cybersports & Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) to bring leadership training, through Vainglory, to thousands of youths in the country. The program is slated to begin on December 2017 during the school holidays, with the support of local schools, aims to provide leadership training for up to 2,000 youths over three years.
“We have seen many of our young players learn important life skills by being a part of the Vainglory community, and this partnership makes that a focus,” said Kristian Segerstrale, CEO of Super Evil Megacorp. “Singapore is the country where Vainglory first launched, so we’re happy to take our connection with the country and its youth even further with SCOGA’s Esports Academy.”
Supported by the Inter-Ministry Cyber Wellness Steering Committee (ICSC), SCOGA selected Vainglory for its established competitive scene in South East Asia which, as a region, has the fastest growing esports audience in the world (Newzoo 2016). Vainglory will be used as a tool to nurture leaders in the esports industry who can bring about positive influences to their peers.
“We chose to partner with Super Evil Megacorp because we saw huge potential in the Vainglory community in Singapore,” said Kelvin Tan, President of SCOGA. “By adopting a learn-by-playing approach, our goal is to impart life-skills to the youth that can be applied in their future careers, should that be in esports or otherwise. The use of popular games among youth like Vainglory allows us to engage them in a way they better understand.”
With the support of the National Youth Council, SCOGA’s Esports Academy has already seen more than 500 sign-ups in 2017. This partnership will further develop Singapore’s esports ecosystem including developing esports athletes and shoutcasters.
“It is awesome to see young Singaporean gamers already making ripples in the region, such as our very own Vainglory team which recently won the regional qualifiers in Jakarta, trained by Singaporean esports academy mentors under the Singapore Cybersports & Online Gaming Association (SCOGA). Supported by the National Youth Council, SCOGA will help host the world championship right here in Singapore at the year end! Be there to support our gaming athletes “Quatervois” (Amos Shun, 17), “deftQ” (Tan Jing Yu, 17) and “Bluexidy” (Ng Jun Xian, 18) as they fly our Singapore flag high!” said Mr. David Chua, CEO of National Youth Council.
The partnership comes hand-in-hand with the Vainglory 2017 World Championship at Singapore’s Kallang Theatre from December 14-17. The event will determine the best Vainglory team in the world as well as unveil Vainglory’s 5v5 mode to a global audience of millions, who tune in to the competition’s streams and VODs. Tickets are free of charge and are available at http://vaingloryworlds2017.peatix.com/.
Vainglory is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video game, developed and published by Super Evil Megacorp for iOS and Android devices. The game features traditional elements of the PC game genre, where players of two opposing teams fight to destroy the enemy base by controlling the path between the bases, which is lined by turrets and guarded by AI controlled enemy creatures. Players may also battle for control points that supply extra resources, often giving teams the edge in destroying the enemy base.
Optimized for touch-based controls and portability, Vainglory features simplified gameplay mechanics and an intuitive interface for the ultimate mobile MOBA experience. Powered by Super Evil’s proprietary E.V.I.L.™ engine, Vainglory delivers console-quality graphics, precision controls and online gameplay experiences not possible with an out-of-the-box tablet engine solution.
Vainglory’s upcoming 5v5 mode will offer the definitive 5v5 MOBA experience by rewarding mechanical skill and meaningful decisions around team compositions, objectives and rotational strategies — all while ensuring the most precise controls and the most beautiful graphics optimized across the widest range of devices. The 5v5 maps was built from the ground up by former competitive players and designers from leading PC MOBAs and continues Vainglory’s focus on strategic and tactical depth.
