Epson Powers The MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team Through Innovative Technology

Singapore, 18 September 2015 – Epson, a global innovation leader in printing, visual communications, manufacturing and quality of life solutions for the office, home, commerce and industry, presented a technology showcase with MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team yesterday. Ahead of the Formula One™ race in Singapore, executives from Epson and the team shared insights on the long-term global partnership with the 2014 FIA Formula One World Champions.

Two Champion Brands with Many Synergies

Epson is an Official Team Partner of MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS, providing its expertise in the areas of inkjet printers, scanners, 3LCD projectors and wearables such as health and lifestyle sensing products. Epson is working with the team on a number of product integration initiatives. For instance, portable printers and scanners have been introduced trackside to assist team operations, and there are projects underway involving both the Moverio smartglasses, and the Runsense and Pulsense health sensing products. Runsense and Pulsense are available in several markets globally and Epson is currently exploring launching the products in the Singapore region too.

A Showcase of Innovation

During the event, guests were treated to a showcase of Epson’s signature innovations, from its 3LCD projection technology to its latest wearables.

Using seven Epson projectors (EB-Z Series) together, Epson demonstrated the vibrant colours and clarity of its high-brightness 3LCD projectors with a projection mapping display on a Formula One race car.

Guests were also able to try Epson’s Runsense GPS sports watches and its PS-500 Pulsense heart rate monitors/activity trackers. The Runsense and Pulsense are examples of Epson sports and health sensing products aimed at improving health and fitness. 

Nurturing Young Local Motorsports Talent

Epson Singapore announced it intends to explore ways to support aspiring motorsports racers, in line with the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts for youth development. To this end, 17-year old Amin Noorzilan, an aspiring kart racer, had the opportunity to meet and speak with double-world Champion Lewis Hamilton in person yesterday. He will also be among a select group to attend an exclusive “meet and greet” session with one of the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team’s drivers on 20th September 2015, before the race. Amin is thefirst racer in Singapore to win three back-to-back national karting championships in the Junior Class from 2010 to 2012. 

“The commitment and dedication displayed by passionate racers in a physically grueling sport, from karters to international racing champions, is evident. These are values that we hope youths in Singapore can bring along with them in life. Moving ahead, we are keen to explore more collaborations that leverage on our technology to benefit the local motor sports youth community,” said Ms Tan May Lin, General Manager, Epson Singapore (Sales Division).

The 2015 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix runs from 18 – 20 September 2015.
