Samsung Announces Expanded Retail Availability of the Gear S3 frontier (LTE) in Singapore

Following the successful launch of the Gear S3 frontier (LTE) earlier this year, Samsung Electronics Singapore today announced the expanded retail availability of the smartwatch in Singapore.

Previously only available at local telecommunication operators Singtel and Starhub, the LTE variant of the Gear S3 frontier will now also be available at major consumer electronics stores (Best Denki, Challenger, Courts, Gain City, Newstead and Harvey Norman), online at retail partners (Hachi, Lazada.sg, Rack85) and Samsung Experience Stores, beginning 1 June 2017, Thursday.

The LTE variant of the Gear S3 introduces LTE support on the smartwatch with its embedded SIM (eSIM), through new revolutionary technology from Gemalto. Telecommunication operators are now able to leverage on its eSIM to support customers’ subscriptions remotely with convenience via a secure platform. Users can download their respective profiles with ease, thanks to the unprecedented flexibility of the smartwatch which connects to the cellular network, enabling them to stay connected wherever they go, such as making phone calls, receiving messages and accessing their apps, even without their mobile phones.

Users of the Gear S3 can also use Samsung Pay on their smartwatch to make a purchase almost anywhere1 they can swipe or tap a card. Incorporating Samsung’s proprietary Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) technology, together with Near Field Communication (NFC), users can easily register a credit or debit card and use their Gear S3 to make mobile payments without limits2, slimming down users’ wallets by making payments accessible on their wrist.

The Gear S3 frontier (LTE) will be available in Dark Grey, at a recommended retail price of $598. From 5 June to 30 June 2017, as part of the Great Singapore Sale (GSS) 2017, customers will also receive a $50 discount on their purchase of the Gear S3 frontier (LTE).

1Availability almost anywhere is based on compatibility of Samsung Pay on MST and/or NFC payment terminals, with some supported for use only after software upgrades. Use of Samsung Pay requires installation of Samsung Gear app on compatible smartphone, certain features may require Bluetooth® connectivity to the smartphone. Samsung Pay is available across all participating payment networks, banks, and merchants. Availability may vary, please check www.samsung.com/sg/samsungpay for updates.

2Most NFC terminals currently accept payments up to $100, while there is no limit on payment transactions via MST terminals (subject to a cardholder’s credit card limit).
