Singapore — September 13, 2017 Singapore-based Team Impunity mounted an exciting comeback win in Jakarta last weekend to claim the crown of Vainglory’s top team in Southeast Asia for the Summer Season. The five-man team joins Spring champions, Team Elite8, in representing Southeast Asia at the Vainglory World Championship to be held in Singapore later this year. The team fought off fierce challenges from regional in the four-team tournament.

Team Impunity faced a familiar foe in the finals, with former Impunity team-mate, Justin Bersamin aka Spaghetti, helming their opponents, Team Infamous. With inside knowledge of Impunity’s tactics, Justin led Infamous to a 0-2 lead against his former team. Team Impunity however, refused to back down and waited patiently for the opportunity to turn the tide. This eventually came in Game Three and Impunity took the chances that came that way to battle for their first win of the match. Riding the momentum from the win in Game Three, Impunity promptly grew in confidence to sweep the match 3-2.

Having now secured their spot at the 12-team tournament at the World Finals in Singapore later this year, the dream of lifting the World Champion trophy in their own backyard will be within touching distance for the young boys from Team Impunity. Last year, Rox Armada (formerly Phoenix Armada) of Korea took the crown as the regional champions battled it out in Hollywood, California, for a total prize pool of USD 120,000.

Team leader, Amos aka Quatervois said, “We are thrilled that Singapore is hosting the Vainglory World Finals, and that gave us extra motivation to win here today to clinch that final representative spot for Southeast Asia. This will give us the platform to show the world how far we’ve come as a nation in esports, and we look forward to making our fans proud.”

Details of this year’s Vainglory World Championships are set to be announced at a later date.
