Western Digital Launches 400GB MicroSD Card and New MY CLOUD HOME Storage Solution

Western Digital (WD) and SanDisk just launched a brand new set of products in the storage market, each with their own target audience. Be it wanting a humongous cloud storage solution that your family can share, to a simple plug-and-play backup solution, WD got you covered.

My Cloud Home (and Duo)

WD introduces their latest revision of the My Cloud series that now comes with an all-new way to easily aggregate your media and files. Not only can your Personal Computers (PCs) make use of the storage, your smartphones can as well! It also allows for an easy to access storage through the use of the Web Interface.

It comes with 2TB to 8TB for the basic model, while the Duo version comes with 4TB to a whopping 16TB. The latter model also allows for either a RAID 0 or 1 configuration.

400GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC

SanDisk also launched their humongous 400GB microSD card that features up to 100MB/s of transfer speed. This is great for content creators that rely heavily on taking videos on the go, and have no time to transfer the data out of their devices. It is sadly only compatible with non-iPhone devices, so do check if your smartphone supports such a huge capacity.

Sandisk iXpand Base

Last but not least, the iXpand Base is a new product that allows for the charging and backing up of your smartphones all at once. The product's main aim is to provide users with a peace of mind by producing a notification that the backing up of their photos is being done. This can be pretty handy for those who feel that the automatic backing up of data wirelessly is unreliable. The iXpand Base comes in 4 variations of capacity - 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.

WESTERN DIGITAL EMPOWERS CONSUMERS
TO TAKE CONTROL OF THEIR DIGITAL CONTENT

New My Cloud Home, SanDisk iXpand Base and world’s highest-capacity 400GB SanDisk Ultra microSD card help consumers better store, manage and share their digital content

SINGAPORE, 7 NOVEMBER 2017 Western Digital Corporation, today launched a suite of consumer storage solutions, including My Cloud™ Home, SanDisk® iXpandTM Base and 400GB* SanDisk Ultra® microSDXC™ UHS-I card, that are designed to empower consumers to easily manage the increasing quantities and varieties of personal data they are amassing.

With more capture devices available than ever before, such as smartphones, tablets or even drones, we are experiencing an explosion of digital content creation, and this is expected to grow further with increasing popularity of capacity intensive applications such as virtual reality, 4K, 8K and 360 video. As a result, consumers are faced with growing, disparate collections of cherished content across devices and no way to easily access it all.

My Cloud Home

Addressing this issue, Western Digital is introducing the My Cloud Home – a new personal cloud storage solution that empowers consumers to take control of their often-scattered digital content.

With the My Cloud Home solution, consumers can easily aggregate all of their photos, videos and files from their smartphones, computers, USB storage, cloud and social media accounts in one central place1. Using their smartphone, tablet or computer from anywhere with an internet connection, consumers then are free to experience and share that content with family and friends.

“Taking just the smartphone for example: Advances in smartphone camera technology has enabled consumers to capture meaningful moments in high resolution quickly and easily. With so much content generated and stored on their mobile devices, users bear the risk of losing these highly valued memories or missing that perfect shot if they misplace their gadget or when they simply run out of space,” said Margaret Koh, Sales Director, Asia South, Western Digital Corporation.

Margaret continued, “Since photos and videos are often captured as keepsakes of memorable and significant moments in life, the notion of these being lost is a shame. Understanding that consumers care deeply about captured moments in their lives, we want to offer convenient solutions that enable users to protect and conserve their precious memories easily and conveniently, such as through the iXpand Base.”

SanDisk iXpand Base

An extension of the award-winning line of iPhone mobile storage solutions from SanDisk, the iXpand Base is a new offering designed for consumers who are looking for a convenient way to back up their iPhone photos, videos and contacts.

With the iXpand Base, there’s no need for consumers to change any daily habits – users simply plug their iPhone into the iXpand Base and automatically back up their content while the phone is charging2.

400GB SanDisk Ultra microSD™ card

For non-iPhone users, Western Digital is launching its 400GB SanDisk Ultra microSD card, the world’s highest-capacity microSD card for use in mobile devices in Singapore today.

Keeping up with the demands of today’s mobile-centric lifestyle, the new SanDisk microSD card provides consumers with the freedom to capture, save and share photos, videos and apps, and enjoy offline content - all without worrying about storage limitations.
