October — ASUS today announced XG-U2008, a 10-port unmanaged
Ethernet switch that includes two next-generation 10GBase-T (10G) ports for
ultra-fast networking speeds of up to 10Gbps.
XG-U2008 is the first 10G-capable switch from
ASUS, offering enterprise-level performance that is designed to meet the needs of
small and medium businesses (SMBs), professional users or serious gamers who
need to run bandwidth-intensive network applications or connect to the latest
10G wide-area-network (WAN) services, as well as connecting standard Gigabit
Ethernet devices.
The slim and stylish XG-U2008 is robustly
constructed and features our iconic spun-metal finish. It is rack-mountable[1], and offers easy plug-and-play operation with at-a-glance
diagnostic LEDs. Standard RJ-45 ports ensure full compatibility with new and
existing network devices, making it the perfect high-speed heart of any network.
Hyper-fast 10Gbps networking
ASUS XG-U2008 is one of the first switches to
offer next-generation 10G networking capabilities outside the enterprise
environment. The two 10G ports each deliver up to 10Gbps speeds — 10 times
(10X) faster than Gigabit Ethernet — via standard RJ-45 cable connectors that
also support 100/1000Mbps connections, making ultra-fast networking a reality
for any business or home user who needs the ultimate network bandwidth for
demanding applications. Examples of such applications include server-to-server
interconnections, or backing up 10G-enabled PCs to a 10G-enabled server or NAS
device. Additionally, with the emergence of 10G WAN services, users are fully
ready to enjoy the benefit of these ultra-fast internet connections. XG-U2008
offers a future-proof solution for any busy network, while maintaining full
backward compatibility with existing Ethernet standards.
XG-U2008 also provides standard Gigabit
Ethernet convenience, with eight 1000Mbps ports that can be used to connect to
any wired networking device.
Easy to use: No setup needed
XG-U2008 is
designed for the ultimate ease of use, and requires absolutely no setup apart
from powering up and connecting devices. Each port automatically configures itself
as a WAN port or LAN port depending on the type of device that is connected.
To eliminate
worries about network cable compatibility — an important factor for 10G
operation — each 10G port has a handy three-color LED signal-quality indicator that
shows cable diagnostic information. A blue light means that the cable supports
full 10Gbps speeds, white indicates 1Gbps operation, and amber shows that the cable
is not working. XG-U2008 also features front-mounted network activity LEDs for
each port.
Slim and stylish design
With its
attractive slim design and aluminum top, enhanced with our iconic spun-metal finish,
there is no need to keep the XG-U2008 out of sight. Its slim dimensions and
compact shape make it an attractive addition to any office or home. For larger
offices, the optional space-saving rack-mount kit allows it to be fitted in a
standard 19-inch bay.
The fanless
design also eliminates noise and ensures a quiet and peaceful working
environment.
