Twenty-three Wins for ASUS at the Good Design Awards 2012
Multiple
products receive G-Mark plaudits thanks to their innovative design
Singapore (4 December, 2012) — ASUS
took home 23 awards for design and engineering excellence at the Good Design Awards
2012 held in Tokyo. The award wins reflect the ASUS In Search of the Incredible
spirit, with winners across multiple product lines. Furthermore, the ROG
Maximus V Formula motherboard which features the world’s first hybrid air and
liquid cooling design has also made it into the Best 100 list. The
internationally acclaimed awards, organised by the Japan Institute of Design
Promotion (JDP), is now in its 55th year and this year it received 3,132 entries
from around the world.

The Good Design Awards program, first initiated in 1957, is
recognised as one of the world's top design awards by the International Council
of Societies of Industrial Design. Entries are subjected to two stringent
screenings before the wnners are selected. These evaluations are not just based
on aesthetic form, but on how these products identify economic, industrial, and
social trends to deliver a design that combines beauty and usability. Honorees
are entitled to use the G-Mark logo, recognised around the world for design
excellence.

NOTEBOOKS
ASUS TAICHI™ Series
The ASUS TAICHI™ is an
incredible combination of notebook and tablet with back-to-back Full HD IPS
displays. The TAICHI switches seamlessly between modes — with the lid open, the
TAICHI is a notebook with a full-size backlit keyboard; with the lid is closed,
it instantly transforms into a multi-touch tablet. Both TAICHI screens work
independently and simultaneously too, so people can share its powerful Intel®
Core™ i7 processor, astonishing SonicMaster audio co-developed with Bang &

ASUS ZENBOOK™ Series
The compact, ultra-light
ZENBOOK™ now comes with a Full HD IPS panel – making it the first Ultrabook™ to

ASUS S Series - S46/S56
ASUS S Series Ultrabooks™

ASUS N Series - N46/N56
The new ASUS N Series boasts
SonicMaster Premium audio with Bang & Olufsen ICEpower® and MaxxAudio 3
processing technology. These features combine to deliver extraordinary sound
quality that is unleashed through the ripple-effect speaker mesh and the
bass-boosting external subwoofer. This audio is complemented by a 150°
wide-view angle display that provides spectacular images to complete the
multimedia experience. The N56VM is powered by the Intel® Core™ i7 processor
which ensures smooth computing and quality graphics performance.
ASUSPRO BU400
The ASUSPRO BU400 delivers
Ultrabook™ performance and design to the commercial realm. It is the debut
product for Windows 8 on the ASUSPRO Series, which is renowned for strict
quality tests that ensure the long-lasting reliability demanded by professional
users. With a profile of just 21mm and tipping the scales at 1.64 kg, the BU400
is ideal for business travelers and protects data with shock-absorbing hard
drives. It is powered by 3rd generation Intel® Core™ processors and NVIDIA®
NVS™ 5200 business graphics hardware, and also features Intel® Anti-Theft
technology and Computrace® LoJack® for Laptops. This series has also made it

ASUS ROG Series G46
The ROG Series G46 gaming
notebook redefines gaming on-the-go and is the most high-yield compact gaming
notebook ever. It features the 3rd generation Intel® Core™ i7 processor and
NVIDIA® GeForce® enthusiast-grade graphics; while NVIDIA® Optimus™ helps extend
battery life. A gamer-centric design offers inclined surfaces for user comfort
while dual rear-venting exhausts direct hot air and noise away from the user.

ASUS VivoTab™ Series
With slim, light designs and
optional lightweight keyboards, ASUS VivoTab™ offers a perfect balance of
portability and productivity. With a resilient metallic finish and
high-definition multi-touch displays, both the 11.6” VivoTab with Windows 8 and
10” VivoTab RT with Windows RT feature Super IPS+ technology for a brilliant
image with wide viewing angle. Both models also feature an optional keyboard
dock with built-in battery for up to 19 hours’ mobile use and VivoTab also
includes a Wacom stylus for high-precision input.
ASUS Transformer Pad TF300
The ASUS Transformer Pad is
a power packed, yet affordable, tablet with a host of onboard features.
Available in three stylish colors, the ASUS Transformer Pad is aptly named
thanks to the optional mobile dock accessory that allows it to transform from a
tablet into a notebook. When docked, total battery life is rated up to 15 hours;
overall productivity is also increased through a full QWERTY keyboard,
multi-touch touchpad and USB/SD Card ports. Housed in the Transformer Pad is a
powerful NVIDIA® Tegra® 3 Quad-core CPU, ASUS SonicMaster technology for an

ASUS PadFone™
The ASUS PadFone™ is a fully
featured Android ICS smartphone with a 4.3” Super AMOLED screen that transforms
into a 10.1” tablet when connected to the PadFone™ Station. ASUS’ unique
DynamicDisplay technology optimizes apps to take advantage of the different
screen sizes, while data is instantly available without the need to
synchronize. The PadFone™ boasts up to 63 hours of extended talk time with the
PadFone™ Station, and up to 102 hours with the Station Dock keyboard
attachment. The PadFone™ uses a single data plan between three devices to
maximize savings.
ASUS Audio Dock
The ASUS Audio Dock features
a 135° angle for the docked tablet to provide the ideal viewing angle for
watching movies, reading, or for use as a digital photo frame. A brushed metal
finished chassis houses a USB port for an auxiliary keyboard, mouse or USB
drive; while an SD Card reader provides additional memory card (MMC/SD)
support. Audio comes by way of Bang & Olufsen ICEpower® to deliver deep,

specially-designed heat pipes increase heat dissipation to keep average
operating temperatures lower by 7°C. Thermal Radar monitors internal temperatures
