Hands-on With Huawei's Mate 10 Pro

If you have followed us on Facebook or Instagram, you would have seen our live coverage of the launch of Huawei's Mate 10 Pro. Here are more higher quality photos taken on the venue itself in Munich, Germany.

Features a oh-so-sexy back, with the Mocha Brown glowing a different shade of brown based on the angle you look at. One clear difference from the Mate 10 is its fingerprint sensor location. Instead of being at the usual spot, home button, it is now right below the Leica cameras. It also uses Gorilla Glass for both sides of the device, and is covered with an oleophobic coating for fingerprint resistance.

There is some criticism that the position is too close to the camera, which can cause the camera to be prone to smudges when the user tries to locate the sensor on the back. Time will tell if it actually affects usability of the device.

While using the Mate 10 Pro, its OLED FHD+ display felt more vibrant than its younger brother. This can be attributed to the choice of OLED over the LCD, which helped with providing a richer color and deeper blacks.

As explained above, those are the obvious physical differences between the Mate 10 and the Mate 10 Pro. As a result, its bottom facing speaker/microphone and the side buttons are exactly the same with the Mate 10.
