A step closer to saying goodbye to bezels, Vivo's brand new flagship Vivo X21 is the world's first smartphone that comes with an In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology. This S$799 flagship gets rid of any fingerprint scanner/button, leaving the X21 with 90.3% of screen-to-body ratio for its 6.28-inch 19:9 FullHD Super AMOLED screen.
Not only will its AMOLED display allow for deeper blacks and amazing contrasts, it even comes graded with 99.5% DCI-P3 and 99.9% sRGB Color Gamut for color accuracy. And yes, it does come with a notch.

Moving on to the star of the show - Vivo's In-Display Fingerprint Scanning. The sensor is located behind the display and is only located at the lower-mid of the screen. Setting up is rather similar a typical fingerprint sensor, albeit slightly longer. When it comes to speed, the process is still pretty quick and takes about a second to complete. This is still faster than competitors that relies on facial or iris unlock that can be heavily affected by the lighting.
Spec-wise, the Vivo X21 is a grade below the top. It comes with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660AIE which still boasts the acceleration of neural networking, aka AI. In terms of performance as compared to the top-end Snapdragon 845, it does respectably well. How it does it perform in the real-world? Do lookout for our review in the coming weeks.
